USCIS Introduces myProgress: Personalized Case Timelines for Form I-765 and Form I-131
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has exciting news for applicants filing Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) and Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document). As part of their commitment to improving user experience, USCIS is expanding the myProgress feature, previously known as personalized processing times, to these two forms. myProgress allows applicants to access personalized estimates of their case milestones, providing valuable insights into their application status.
What Is myProgress?
myProgress is a powerful tool that offers applicants with a USCIS online account personalized estimates of their wait time for major milestones throughout their case processing. This includes the final case decision. These case timeline estimates are based on historical data from cases with similar specifics.
However, it’s important to note that myProgress provides estimates and not guarantees of processing speed. It may not account for unique application processing delays, leading to either underestimation or overestimation of the true processing time.
Forms Eligible for myProgress
Alongside Form I-765 and Form I-131, myProgress is also available for applicants filing:
- Application for Naturalization (Form N-400)
- Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90)
- Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130)
USCIS aims to expand this service to more forms in the future, further enhancing the applicant experience.
How to Access a Case Timeline Using myProgress
To view their personalized case timelines, applicants must first create a USCIS online account or log into their existing account. Once logged in, they can select their pending application and find the myProgress tab.
If the applicant e-filed or linked one of the eligible forms to their online account using an access code, they will see the myProgress tab associated with their application. This tab displays the estimated wait time for their case decision, along with three milestones marked by a checkmark as they are completed:
- Confirmation of application receipt
- Completion of biometric services appointment (if required)
- Final decision on the pending case
Using myProgress to Improve Case Timeline Tracking
The introduction of myProgress streamlines the case timeline tracking process for applicants, offering transparency and real-time insights into their case status. Applicants can stay informed about the progress of their application without the need for extensive inquiries. It empowers individuals to plan accordingly and manage their expectations during the application process.
Outside of Normal Processing Times Service Request
Applicants should be aware that while myProgress provides valuable case timeline estimates, they still need to visit the public Check Case Processing Times webpage to determine eligibility for filing an Outside of Normal Processing Times service request.
